BLADDERWRACK - $6.50 / oz Bladderwrack is rich in iodine, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulfur, silicon and iron and high in some B-complex vitamins. It contains moderate amounts of phosphorus, selenium, manganese and zinc and small amounts of vitamins A, C, E and G. It also contains anti-sterility vitamin S as well as vitamin K. It is rich in algin and mannitol, carotene and zeaxantin with traces of bromine.
A nourishing tonic. Obesity with tiredness and dry skin. Cellulite, chronic dry skin and stubborn constipation. Regular use delays the progress of arthritis and hardening of the arteries. A good tonic for old age. For children with slow mental and physical development.
METHOD OF PREPARATION: Raw or cooked, boiled or steamed, can be dried, strong flavored. Use sparingly in soups and the like, depending upon your like or dislike of the flavor. It tastes like salty fish.
KOMBU - $6.50 / oz. Kombu is used extensively in Japanese cuisines as one of the three main ingredients needed to make dashi, a soup stock. It may also be eaten fresh in sashimi. a dish that is simmered in soy sauce and mirin.Kombu may be pickled with sweet-and-sour flavoring, cut into small strips about 5 or 6 cm long and 2 cm wide. These are often eaten as a snack with green tea. It is often included when cooking beans, putatively to add nutrients and improve digestion. "seaweed tea", is a beverage brewed from dried and powdered kombu. Kombu is also used to prepare a seasoning for rice to be made into sushi.
